At Yorkshire Airedales, the health and welfare of our dogs is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to responsible, ethical breeding and to maintaining the integrity of the Airedale Terrier.
We are 5-star licensed breeders, inspected and approved in accordance with local authority regulations. This reflects our commitment to high standards of animal welfare, husbandry, and responsible breeding practices. We were also part of the former Kennel Club Assured Breeder Scheme.
In addition, we hold an Ofqual-regulated Pupstarts Breeder Qualification in dog breeding, litter socialisation, and welfare. This reflects our commitment to evidence-based best practice and ongoing education in the responsible breeding and raising of puppies. We do also attend the Pupstarts National Breeder Convention each year to keep up-to-date on all things puppy related and developments in breeding. As well as gaining CPD points and knowledge, it is a celebration of ethical breeding.
Our breeding dogs are carefully selected with health, temperament, and sound structure in mind. We aim to reduce the risk of hereditary conditions through considered pairings and responsible breeding decisions. All dogs are hip scored and we are careful to maintain low coefficients of inbreeding.
All puppies are:
- Raised in a home environment
- Carefully socialised from an early age
- Health checked by a veterinary surgeon
- Microchipped and receive their first vaccination before leaving
- KC Registered
- Come with 5 weeks free insurance
We are always open and honest about our dogs and are happy to discuss health considerations with prospective owners.
Ethics
We breed occasionally and responsibly, prioritising quality over quantity. Our dogs are first and foremost much-loved companions, not commodities.
We do not breed:
• For size extremes
• For constant availability
Each litter is planned with care, and breeding decisions are made with the long-term welfare of the dogs and the breed in mind.
Care & Placement
Great care is taken when placing our puppies. We aim to match each puppy to a home that understands the needs, temperament, and commitment required by an Airedale Terrier.
We welcome enquiries from thoughtful, responsible homes and are always happy to offer honest advice about whether the breed, and one of our puppies, would be a good fit.
Our support does not end when a puppy leaves for its new home. We are always available to offer guidance and advice throughout the dog’s life.
